  • Situated Survey of Twentieth Century American Modern Dance (UWM) – Research, design, bibliography, and syllabus for this re-imagined Modern Dance 101.  Rooted squarely within a liberal arts paradigm, this lively theory and technique course locates the classic moderns within their socio-political and artistic landscapes.  Working from the assumption that art is not created in a vacuum, studio-based physical experimentation is supplemented by rigorous interrogation of written and video sources. Coursework is multivalent, requiring dancers to articulate their ideas in written form, and culminating in a researched performance project.
